#RosesForJonghyun

Dear Moi,

Last night while browsing YouTube, I saw a thumbnail about Jonghyun. I disregarded it because I decided to watch this

Andante, a Korean series about granting the wishes of patients who are in hospice waiting for their death. Every episode provoke something inside of me - my relationship with my family, my lack of friends to confide in, my loneliness - I try not to dwell on negativity but the feeling of being alone is slowly setting in and the holiday season makes my melancholia more pronounce. Killing myself cross my mind. Scenarios of my suicide flashed on my mind but I quell this thoughts by diverting my attention to fleeting happiness - hiring masseurs for their extra service, for their kisses, for their hugs. I miss human touch so bad but I don't seem to find the person who will alleviate my loneliness.

This morning while browsing the net to distract me with my melancholia, I came across an article about Jonghyun's death. Jonghyun is the lead vocalist of Korean idol group SHINee. His solo album is constant in my playlist. I barely understand the lyrics but I am very enamored with his voice. I can here desperation, longing, sadness in his voice and I can relate to that.

Jonghyun committed suicide yesterday and I am greatly affected. Suicidal thoughts to escape cross my mind and I try to forget this thoughts through paperwork but I can't concentrate. This is why I'm writing this blog post. I want to unload this feeling of desperation, this sadness. I am going to leave this post with this song...

Moi

Shake It Out

One of the reasons why I donate blood quarterly is the free laboratory exam for infectious diseases. I'm a cheapskate, sue me :)

Last March, I learned that there's a clinic in Manila that gives free testing for people like us. Here's my results...

I went there alone, but I didn't feel scared or anxious. The staffs are friendly and the counselor is not your typical counselor, I felt at home. Talking to the counselor about my sexual history is quite liberating and I learned a lot about myself and HIV/AIDS.

The waiting time is approximately 2 hours because they use both the Rapid and Particle Agglutination HIV tests.Waiting for the result is the most excruciating part of the ordeal but it's worth it because I want to know my status, may it be positive or negative.

Just click this link for more info about RITM Satellite Clinic in Malate.

Know your status, it's time to get tested!

This song helped me when I took the test and yes I'm enamored with Smash :)

Here's a rundown of my so called life starting February

February - My English tutor and I met and it went well but due to conflict of schedule we are not able to meet again. My work ate a lot of my time but it seemed like it paid off because my department was nominated for 6 awards and I got 2 nominations, one for social responsibility and the other one is for quality service. My department won the awards but I went home empty handed. I was disappointed because I know that I more than deserve the award but hey that's life. This is the second year in a row that I went home empty handed. Never the bride always the bridesmaid...

For March, I was supposed to take my exams but again I was not able to do that because of
1.     I'm financially broke and I don't have the money for the exam.
2.     I'm not confident with my speaking skills because I don't have anyone to converse with. I tried talking to my friends in English but they only made fun of me.
3.     I assisted my parents with their executive check-up and that depleted my budget for the exam and for reviewing. I know my parents can pay for their medical bills but I need to shoulder the bills because I feel that it is my responsibility as their son to give back what they've given me when I was still a child. You see, I feel like I'm not a good son because i'm gay and I cannot give them a grandchild. I know this is unreasonable but this is how I feel. They're the best parents and I feel that i don't deserve them because of my sexuality.

Anyway, last April, my papa was hospitalized due to skin abscess and again I shouldered the medical bills. Aside from the abscess he was also diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thank heavens it was caught early and the doctor prescribed him some medicines.

My parents stayed in my condo for 2 weeks and it was both a blessing and a curse. I don't wanna dwell with this so I'll stop here...

Now you're updated.

hmm I don't check my grammar when I post my thoughts. I just type what's in my head and click publish. I'm lazy and I know it.

Je suis très désolé pour l'update plus tard!

I am very sorry for the late update. It's not because I'm super busy with my schedule, it's because life is kicking my butt.

So what's the reason why I started posting again?

It's because of him...

I was inspired to write again.

I first met him last year when he was rotated in my department. I have a coordinator who supervises the underlings but every time there was an opportunity to be close to him I always grab it, like being the panel in their journal report and projects. He's smart and good looking, even he's "sungki" is adorable. But even if I have a gargantuan crush on him, I never crossed the line. Not because he's straight but because I don't want to ruin my reputation.

It's been 2 months since I last saw him and I still have this butterflies inside my tummy every time I see his pictures.

You never fail to inspire me Marco.

I hope our paths will cross again (hopefully not in my workplace...)

Je t'adore...

Marco reminds me of my only singer crush Kris Allen, they are both on the vertically challenged side but that doesn't matter because both have an adorable face and a drool worthy physique!

I'm very much infatuated with Marco and Kris Allen.

Romantic Liaisons

A blogger friend (Hi Zai!) asked me about my previous relationships and that got me thinking about my lamentable love life (char!).

A song by Eric Benet sums up my love story

The first time I fell in love was long ago.
I didn't know how to give my love at all.

My first gay romance was memorable.

We've been acquaintances/classmates for a year, friends for 2 years and lovers for a month.

The relationship didn't work out because of me -I didn't know how to give my love...

but the thing that I remembered the most is our break up.

He used an unforgettable, plagiarized break up line (hmmm lingering bitterness?)

"I'm sorry I can't Don't hate me..."

Yup he used that line and to make things more memorable, I received this break up notice by text message.

It was a gamut of emotions, I was like Carrie ...

Anyway, let's go back to my song...

The next time I settled for what felt so close.
But without romance, you're never gonna fall.

My next relationship was due to hormones.

He's gorgeous, half Norwegian - tall, lean and young, just like him

The coitus (or copulation) experience is unmatched, it was the first time that my phallus erupted without touching.

After 3 fortnights of dating, my raging hormones subsided and I called it quits.

Sex is good and he's definitely an arm candy

but I need romance and love.

Hopefully the next time I fall in love is the last...

One of my favorite romantic songs...

It's late and I can't sleep, I've been planning to post an article about my Pedring experience but I can't find the appropriate picture. Maybe next time...

STOCKPILES OF MEMORIES 1: Job Interview

It was my interview for my first job. I passed my initial interview and the next step is another interview with the section head. It was a very nerve racking experience, at first she asked me a lot of questions regarding my past works and my certificates. I answered her honestly and candidly. I know that my interview is going well until she asked me a very personal question. She asked me about my sexual “preference”. I was shocked, a lot of things run in my head, like am I that obvious? Do I act gay? Will my sexual orientation affect my chance to clinch the job? There are a lot of jumbled questions and emotions that I was experiencing that time. I was afraid but I’ve thrown all cautions to the wind and I answered ‘Yes, I’m gay’ - this is my first time to admit my sexual orientation with defiance and with pride. I just outed myself to a complete stranger, not just a stranger but also my future employer. (Have I mentioned that the institution is run by a religious order?) My fears were unfounded because she told me that my preference will not affect my chance to work with them but she cautioned me about some legal things that I might encounter if ever I’m going to act inappropriately with our clients (as if I'm going to do that, I love my job and I will not besmirched my reputation just to have a little quickie with a cute patient). After my shocking interview she told me to wait for a while.

When her assistant called me, she asked if my interview went well I answered ‘ I hope so’. She told me that I did ok and I’m going to start training for 3 months (please note that I’m not going to receive anything for 3 months, which means no food or transportation allowance). The assistant told me that the physiatrist told her about my sexual orientation. Again I was flabbergasted, I did not expect for the physiatrist to announce my sexuality to my future co-workers. I felt violated but can’t do anything about my situation. For me coming out is a very private matter. It involves a great trust between to people. It’s like giving a piece of my soul to the recipient of my trust. I was not prepared for the result of my impromptu coming out, but what can I do but accept my situation.

Genesis of my life: Trials & Tribulations

I’m the first grandson of the first son and was named after my grampa and my papa. I detest my name but I love my nickname. My parents christened me with a unique nickname they called me j-3 but my mama called me jet, which I also like.

I was born on the 24th October at exactly 10:15 in the morning. My mom told me there’s a marching band playing when I was born; the reason behind this is there is a nearby school in the hospital where I was born. The school is celebrating United Nations day. My mom also told me that I was born 10 months after my conception; she believed that I was conceived during my parents honeymoon.

My papa is a son of a retired US Navy and my mom is a daughter of an Aglipayan priest. When I was born my parents lived with my papa’s parents together with my 3 aunts and 1 uncle. Both of my parents worked in the metro. My mama told me my grandparents and aunts spoiled me. She also told me that my grandparents proposed to adopt me because they want to avail the allowance that the US government gives to retired navy’s underage family but my father and uncle opposed this idea. My father opposed this idea because he doesn't want his son to be his brother while my uncle’s reasoning is pure jealousy.

First hint

I was spoiled rotten until I was 4 years old, when my sister was born. My mom stopped working because of difficult pregnancy and my papa worked in the metro. My gramma’s treatment changed. She became jealous with my mama. While my mama was having a hard time with my gramma, I am playing with our house help’s son I remember back then that we played with our penises. One day my papa caught us in a compromising position, my friend was on top of me and was humping me, and since that incident I never saw my friend again. I can’t remember if I was punished.

I was a lonely child; I had lots of toys but no one to play with until the daughter of my nanny arrived. We played a lot, we always pretend that I’m a girl she licks her fingers and applied her spit in my lips, pretending it was a lipstick and we also use bed sheets as a lady’s dress. I think my father saw us and he threatened to hang me upside down if I do not act like a man.

Jealousy

As the signs of my sexual orientation flourish, my mama’s relationship with my gramma worsened. My mom told me that she was cursed from head to foot and maltreated by my gramma and she can’t fight back because she was taught to be better than that, instead of fighting back she cried a lot.

When my sister was born, I was jealous of her. I remember the times that I bite her feet and made her cry. I was so jealous that I never noticed that my gramma and mama‘s relationship has deteriorated a lot. Because of grammas lunacy, she kicked us out in their house. I recon it was dawn - very early in the morning, it was till dark, when someone woke me up. I remember my aunts and uncle shouting at my parents and throwing insults. I also remember that my gramma has a big knife pointing at us. My sister was only a year old and I was 5 back then, it was a very traumatic experience and I will never forget those vile hateful words they said towards my family. Wounds heal but it always leaves scars. I forgive them but I’ll never forget.
